KURI’ｓ music is dedicated to the land of the mountains in Japan, where they live, as well as the landscapes they have encountered in their world travels.
Their love of ethnic musical instruments is expressed within the duo KURI.
Katsu : Katsu's music crosses borders among people of all ages & cultures.He started playing music with different ethnic instruments in the 90s.
By performing concerts in many European and Asian countries he has gotten a conviction that through music people can have true heart to heart communication and overcome differences.
Miho : A multi instrumentalist Miho plays Irish tin whistle,Low whistle, Ocaria, Bamboo flute, Melodion, Didgelidoo,and singing.Her music is played with
meaning & joy from the heart, connected to the land.
KURIはアジアやヨーロッパの民族楽器を取り入れたアコースティックな音楽を創り出す二人組です。
Katsuはギリシャの弦楽器・ブズーキなど様々な民族楽器の音色や響きを取り入れた独自の音の世界を創り出す音の旅人。フォーク、ロック、ノイズミュージックなどの様々な音楽活動を経験した後、９０年代初めから民族楽器を取り入れた音楽活動を始める。ヨーロッパやアジアでの演奏活動の経験から、音楽を通じ、人はそれぞれの違いを超えて心を通わせることができると確信し、演奏以外にも楽器を作って音を奏でるワークショップも開催、さらに近年音と共に語る詩の朗読も行なうなど音楽の持つ可能性を幅広く探求している。
Mihoは国立音楽大学器楽科卒業後、アイルランドの一人旅にて初めて素朴な民族楽器、ティンホイッスルを本格的に演奏するようになる。その後2006ー2007年イギリスに渡英。ロンドンを中心に現地のバンドやソロなどで音楽活動を開始。2015年パリにてレコーディングの仕事をきっかけにフランスでも音楽活動を開始。パリでの舞踏家とのコラボレーション、ロンドンではラジオ出演やワークショップも展開。ポーランド発の音楽制作にてヴォーカルや笛でレコーディングに参加、ソリストとしても活動の場を各地で広げている。
